International Tournaments

Unlike other martial arts schools whose focus is on how many trophies their students can receive, U.S. Taido believes that tournaments are for gauging its students' achievements, encouraging sportsmanship, and fostering international friendship and understanding.  Therefore, tournaments are an extremely special occasion. The most recent tournament, held in 2005, was in honor of the U.S. Taido Association’s thirtieth anniversary. Three hundred fifty U.S. Taido students participated, as well as sixty-five Japanese contenders. As part of its cultural exchange program, U.S. Taido has also taken groups of students to compete in international Taido tournaments in Japan and Finland, including the World Taido Tournament and the Friendship Tournament, where Team U.S.A. has been very successful.
