All of U.S. Taido’s black belts train a rigorous program that develops both physical and mental ability, as well as leadership skills. Students are tested on the following criteria: Hokei (Forms), Jissen (Free Sparring), and Grappling. Attendance and a Written Thesis are also a part of the process of obtaining a black belt. Black belts assist with teaching, train towards further advancement by developing new techniques and practicing very advanced ones, mentor underclassmen, and participate in large projects by leading. U.S. Taido’s black belt group is a proud and exclusive group, and many would say “Very tight knit”.
